Radiography
We offer a complete radiography interpretation service to clients.
The second consultation room has been refurbished after taking advice from a Radiation Protection Advisor to ensure maximum safety for both staff and pets.
The equipment is serviced annually and the practice has invested in a Velopex daylight x-ray processor.
The speed of processing means that your pet does not have to spend too long under anaesthetic as the x-rays are developed within minutes as opposed to the previous manual development.
Some procedures do not require a full anaesthetic to enable us to x-ray.
In some instances, pets will require what is called a contrast study. This could either be air instilled in the area to be examined (for example bladder) or a contrast medium (for example bladder or bowel) and sometimes both (for example double contrast of the bladder).
X-rays can be sent off for interpretation by a third party if there is any doubt upon the significance of findings. Depending upon the structure x-rayed, we have different specialists whom we call upon to give a second opinion on the case.
This is a post operative x-ray.
