Flea Control

Most products that can be obtained from vets and from non-veterinary shops are classed as Adulticides. These products kill off the adult flea population. However, care needs to be taken when choosing a product as not all of them are efficient or effective at killing the fleas. It’s advisable to check with your vet as to the effectiveness of the product you have in mind.

Another group of flea control products are the Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs). These products act in a different way than the Adulticides and affect the flea eggs (prevent hatching rather than killing off the adult fleas).
